Falck has entered into an agreement with Medconnect, which operates and develops Hejdoktor.dk, a digital platform that connects users with doctors and healthcare specialists. The company also supplies 'Platform As A Service' products to the primary and secondary healthcare sector. More than 1.7 million Danes have access to Hejdoktor's services, and the company has an expected turnover of DKK 36 million in 2023. With the acquisition, Falck strengthens its global position within telemedicine, and thereby gains access to Hejdoktor's healthcare professionals and their digital development team.
"With the acquisition of Hejdoktor, we are making another strategic investment in advancing digital health solutions. There is a constantly increasing demand for healthcare, and Hejdoktor's strong digital platform and skilled employees will not only help strengthen Falck's position within telemedicine, but also hold huge potential in relation to making healthcare more accessible to more people. We look forward to welcoming Hejdoktor's talented employees and learning from their way of working,"
says CEO of Falck, Jakob Riis.
Falck already has a large, existing business within telemedicine, including in Colombia, where half a million people subscribe to online medical care. Falck sees both growth and development opportunities, just as Hejdoktor's digital platform holds potential in relation to Falck's digital transformation.
"We have embarked on a profound digital transformation, where telemedicine plays a key role in advancing better and more sustainable healthcare solutions. As a global company, we have the muscle and prerequisites to scale good Danish digital solutions, and we see some good potential in spreading Hejdoktor's platforms to our other markets,"
says CFO of Falck, Christian Baltzer.
Hejdoktor is also satisfied with the agreement.
"With Falck, we have found a good strategic and cultural match where both our business and employees can grow. From the start, it has been clear that we share the same visions of developing digital health solutions that provide more people with access to healthcare. We look forward to becoming part of the Falck family, and to spreading our approach to Falck's markets and customers – and thus helping even more people than we do today,"
says CEO of Hejdoktor, Mikkel Geertsen.
