Episode 7 - Health as a school subject

The Danish health profile from 2021 shows that especially the 16-24-year-olds score low on mental health, and up to every fifth child lives with overweight or severe overweight. If we look at the adult population, 60% do not meet the WHO minimum standard for physical activity. It does not look good!

Should the Danish public school play a greater role in relation to the health of the population and the social inequalities we see in the field of health since this is where we all meet and where we may be able to intervene early enough?

Falck's CEO, Jakob Riis, has asked Morten Grønbæk, doctor and director of the National Institute of Public Health & chairman of the Knowledge Council for Prevention, as well as Claus Holm, Associate Professor and head of DPU at Aarhus University. We hope you enjoy listening.

Episode 6 - Private Healthcare Services

Podcast with Falck's CEO Jakob Riis: Private healthcare services - what role should they play in providing healthcare to citizens - if any?

80% of Danes believe that there is a need to involve private actors in the healthcare system over the next ten years. At least half of Danes are willing to pay extra for healthcare services. Willingness to pay increases with age and - not surprisingly - income. But what role will private actors play in the healthcare system? Should they supplement the public offering and what benefits but also challenges can potentially arise from this? And not least: How do we avoid inequality and discrimination?

Jakob Riis, Falck's CEO, asked Klaus Lunding, chairman of Danish Patients, these questions.  We hope you enjoy listening to "Private health services: What role should they play in the healthcare offer to citizens - if any?"

Episode 5 - Sustainable healthcare system

6%. This is the estimate of how large a share of Denmark's total CO2 emissions comes from the Danish healthcare system.

With the Climate Act, we have committed ourselves to reducing our CO2 emissions by 70% by 2030, so how do we ensure that the healthcare system of the future is sustainable? Will green procurement and optimized building management and transport be enough? And can we achieve it by 2030 if we do not dare to think a little differently?

Falck’s CEO, Jakob Riis, has asked Anna Roe Rasmussen, doctor and original co-founder of "Doctors for the Climate", and Jane Heitmann, Member of Parliament for the Liberal Party and chairman of the Parliament's Health Committee, about this in this episode.

Listen to "The sustainable healthcare system" and hear why Anna believes that sustainability may be crucial for the population to maintain their trust in the healthcare system.

Episode 4 - Digital healthcare

In this episode, Jakob Riis has spoken with Jakob Kjellberg, Professor of Health Economics at the National Research and Analysis Center for Welfare (VIVE), and Peter Ohnemus, CEO and founder of Dacadoo.

We live longer and have more data on our own health than ever before. But how should we measure the health of society? What challenges does it present, and how can we measure quality of life related to health? One of the conclusions from the conversation was that we need to be even closer to the individual citizen and catch possible diseases earlier, but we also need to help people choose the good tools that make a difference.

Listen to "Digital Healthcare" and find out what Peter Ohnemus is talking about when he says that it is the equivalent of blowing up a random hospital. We hope you enjoy it!

Episode 2 - "Debureaucratisation"

In this podcast, Liselotte Højgaard, professor of Medicine and Technology and chief physician at Rigshospitalet, and Sara Vergo, Deputy Chairman of DJØF's board and chairman of DJØF Public discuss the theme ‘debureaucratisation’ in a reunion of the traditional opposite poles, DJØF and the health service.

One of Sara Vergo's main points was that we must find solutions by lifting ourselves above the three actors in the health care system, municipalities, regions and general practitioners, if we want to get rid of the bureaucracy. Increased focus on registration and administration has created silos and lack of coherence. Now is the time to find new solutions for the benefit of patients, including through digitization.

Episode 1 - ”The Patient at the centre”

What does it take to create better healthcare solutions for the future? This is a subject that our CEO Jakob Riis is curious about. To learn more he talks to Marie Lenstrup, Chairman of the association 'Relatives in Denmark' and Martin Geertsen, member of the Danish Parliament (V) and member of the parliament's health committee in the podcast ”The Patient at the centre”. The podcast is in Danish.

One of the topics they explore is how we can support patients by involving their relatives who are often the glue between the different parts of the public health system – we can do better by educating and supporting them in what they do. We can also do more for patients with multiple chronic conditions by finding solutions that they can use between admissions. We hope you enjoy listening!
